March Devotional

By Pastor Lew Pizzala

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead” 1 Pet. 1:3

When people lose hope they die from the inside out. “Hope deferred makes the heart sick.”  This is why the resurrection of Jesus is so important.  It offers us a “living hope.”  I know hope is “living” when it discovers what can be done instead of grumbling about what cannot be done. Israel lost hope, grumbled against Moses and many ended up dying in the wilderness.  Second, I know hope is living because it lights a candle instead of cursing the darkness.  In prison, and at midnight, with their lives on the line, Paul and Silas lit a candle.  How?  By singing praises to God.  When hope is alive the night is less dark and the fear is less acute.  Praise Him!

Prayer: “Thank you that when Jesus was raised from the dead my hope was also raised from the dead. Thank you that it is in me as a spiritual force – very much alive, making me alive, from the inside out.”
