I Have Set The Lord Before Me                                                                                                                      Pastor Lew Pizzala

“I will bless the Lord who has given me counsel; My heart also instructs me in the night seasons. 8 I have set the Lord always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved” Psa. 16:7,8

When you think of people who are effective in what they do you have to realize that it is not by accident.  Being effective is the result of developing the right kind of habits that enhance your effectiveness.  One of the habits that David developed that made him great was he “always set the Lord before him.”  This is what gave him his stability.  We can’t bodily pick God up and set Him before us, so how do we “set the Lord before us?”

First, set your eyes on the presence of the Lord. Because God is invisible you have to train your eyes to see Him who is invisible (Heb. 11:27).  Adjust your heart so that you are fully aware that God is in you, upon you and with you.  Second, turn your affections toward Him.  David was not just a great warrior; he was also a great worshipper.  He did more than live by the theory of God’s presence, he was a practitioner.  Don’t settle for the menu.  Partake of the course.  In order for a truth to be validated in your life it has to turn into an experience.

Prayer“Help me today to bless the Lord.  I receive fresh strength to look to Him who is invisible.  May the reality of setting you before me enable me to live victoriously.”
