April Devotional

When God Opens His Hand – By Pastor Lew Pizzala

You open Your hand And satisfy the desire of every living thing” – Psa. 145:16

If your lifestyle isn’t governed by, “Jesus is all I need”, then like the wave of the sea you will be tossed around by disorientation and instability.  The key is to be satisfied by the “open handed God.”  If you want God to open His hand then you have to open your mouth.  In that same chapter he says:  “My mouth shall speak the praises of the Lord…” (v. 21).  When you speak up, God shows up.

We must also consider that if we want God to open His hand, we must open our eyes.  He said:  “The eyes of all look expectantly to You…” (v. 15).  God opens His hand to those who expect Him to.  When the Holy Spirit opens your eyes the end result is an expectant look.  An old proverb says: “blessed is he who expects nothing for he shall not be disappointed.”   The Scriptures teach that God is open handed to those who’s hearts are surrendered to Him.  The unsatisfied life is always the by product of an unsurrendered heart.

Prayer:  “Father help me to open my mouth, lift up my eyes and surrender my heart this day.  Then, and only then, will I be able to proclaim: “The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.”
