When You Don’t Understand

By Pastor Lew Pizzala

It would be nice to live in a world where no one died, no one cried and no one sighed. But the fact of the matter is: we don’t live in an ideal world; we live in a real world. It’s in this real world that we accumulate our disappointments, hurts, nicks and wounds. The problem is when we take our heartache and attach it to our own understanding. Are you trying to figure things out on your own? Have you “shelved” the Bible during these times? Your own thoughts are like “props” that are easily kicked out from underneath you. God’s Word is eternal and forever settled.

Here is a liberating thought: “Life is not based on explanations, it is built on promises.” God promises to “never leave you nor forsake you.” Yours is to trust Him.

Trust isn’t so much you taking a hold of God’s hand as much as it is being so vulnerable to the circumstances of life that you let Him take your hand. He pleases God best, who trusts Him most.

Prayer: “Lord enable me to trust that it is you Who is overseeing my story.”
